This is a crisp, blue and white stripe cotton dress from the early Edwardian era. There are decorative shell buttons in front, it has a slightly flared shape with an inverted pleat in back, where it fastens with hooks and eyes.
There is a label at the waist that says “Kingston Shirts”, along with some measurements and a wholesale price.
It measures 25 1/4″ around at the waist, this could be enlarged by moving the “eye” at the waist, probably by about 3/4″ at the most. It’s 45 1/2″ around at the hip, 40 1/4″ long.
In good condition, with some brownish age spots, the largest to the left at the hem, there is an area in the middle front around the buttons that has some light spotting, there are a few other, small spots here and there.
These are shown in the photos.
The fabric is crisp and appealing, the skirt has never been washed or worn.
