CIVIL WAR ERA STRIPED GAUZE OVER SKIRT WITH SILK FRINGE TRIMS
DATING TO THE 1860’S
FASHIONED OF A PINSTRIPED SHEER GRID PATTERN CHALLIS WOOL GAUZE THAT IS WOVEN WITH A GEOMETRIC GREEN AND BLACK PATTERN.
EDGED IN SILK TAFFETA WITH BLACK SILK LACE TRIMMING ONE SIDE WITH SMALL BEADS IN THE CENTER OF THE LACE AND THE OUTER EDGES TRIMMED IN SILK FRINGE.  STIFFENED BELTING IS TRIMMED IN ROWS OF MATCHING GREEN AND BLACK SILK TAFFETA RIBBON WITH A LARGE BOW ATOP THE HOOK AND EYE CLOSURE IN THE FRONT.

CONDITION
:  THERE ARE THREE PINHEAD BROWN STAINS ON THE PANEL IN THE FRONT ON THE RIGHT SIDE.  THE SPOTTING IS MINIMAL AND HARD TO NOTE.  THE RIBBONS ON THE LEFT SIDE HAVE PARTIALLY COME FREE ON THE BELTING AND NEED TO BE TACKED INTO PLACE.
THERE IS ONE SPOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE THAT HAS A DARKER SILK RIBBON ON THE EDGING, NOT A FLAW BUT WAS DONE TO UTILIZE THE FABRIC.
